About National Cricket Academy (NCA)
All of the competitors in these state-level competitions receive training from the Indian government. The candidates will be chosen for these state-level teams based on how well they play in clubs or other league games. The government has established a set number of applicants to be chosen from each state to join the national team, based on that state’s population, in order to protect the interests of all the states.

National Cricket Academy Bangalore Selection Process
There is a famous seven-step selection process that every candidate must go through to get a chance to be a part of the National Cricket Academy.
Let us now look at these first steps for every candidate before seven steps in detail.
- The first step for every candidate must be completed before the completion of schooling itself. The candidate must be part of his school team in inter-school competitions.
- The second step is to be a part of the district-level camps in an eligible age category.
- Every candidate has to play a considerable time of district cricket where matches would be held between various state districts.
- If the candidate’s performance is satisfactory and has potential, he would be shortlisted for the state-level team.
- The candidate has to play state cricket again until he is spotted by some selectors looking at the pure skill of the player.
- Every candidate has to participate in state-level camps, consisting of playing matches across the country on different pitches.

National Cricket Academy Scholarship
Three of the national cricket academy’s top players receive scholarships to travel to Australia’s Centre of Excellence in Brisbane. The Border-Gavaskar Scholarship bears the names of two renowned athletes: Allan Border, an Australian, and Sunil Gavaskar, an Indian captain. In Test Cricket, they amassed more than 10,000 runs.

History of NCA
The National Cricket Academy is located in Chinnaswamy Stadium Bengaluru. Cricket administrator and former BCCI President Raj Singh Dungarpur was the pioneer of NCA. He was the Chairman of the same.
On the other side, Vasu Paranjape along with Roger Binny worked as a Director in 2000. NCA has produced many talents for India. In 2014, BCCI made a tie-up with Cricket Australia and the England Cricket Board to get experts for helping draw the new model.

The idea of establishing a national cricket academy in India was conceived to address the need for a structured and specialized coaching setup to develop talented cricketers from a young age. The BCCI recognized that a centralized facility would help young talents receive the best possible training and support to thrive in international cricket.
In 2000, the Indian National Cricket Academy was inaugurated in the heart of Bengaluru, Karnataka. The location was strategically chosen due to the city’s pleasant climate and excellent cricketing infrastructure. The sprawling academy boasts state-of-the-art facilities, including multiple cricket grounds, well-equipped indoor nets, fitness centers, sports science laboratories, and residential accommodations.
